Description: in 2024, Rome once again took centre stage in international athletics by hosting the European Athletics Championships – EAC Rome 2024, followed by over 700 million viewers worldwide and distributed across 56 countries with more than 1,200 hours of live broadcasts coordinated by EBU Sport. In Italy, the coverage on RAI2 and RAI Sport achieved record prime-time ratings. For Host Broadcasting, Eurovision Sport selected Videe as a technical partner alongside AMP Visual TV, entrusting us with the management and coordination of the entire production ecosystem. We deployed an infrastructure based on three OB Vans, including OBX—a 4K HDR unit designed for large-scale simultaneous productions, featuring dual independent control rooms for the parallel management of multiple disciplines.OBX handled the production of the throwing and jumping events (long jump, triple jump, pole vault, high jump), operating with two independent control rooms capable of producing six simultaneous feeds (program and A/B qualifiers for each discipline). The multi-camera coverage was achieved using an inventory of over 20 cameras—including super slow motion, micro-cameras, RF, polecam, railcam, cablecam, and a Jimmy Jib—as well as EVS XT-VIA systems and audio-follow-video workflows. The main challenge was ensuring maximum flexibility in repositioning the cameras to cover simultaneous disciplines in different areas of the stadium while maintaining a set number of cameras. The solution involved the deployment of equipment.
