Tintoretto. The artist who killed painting.
Location: Venice
Country: Italy
Year: 2022
Category: Contents
Client: co-production Videe / Kublai Film / Zeta Group / Gebrueder Beetz / ARTE e ZDF
Description: Biopic on Tintoretto, the undisputed protagonist of the Italian Renaissance. Born Jacopo Robusti, he profoundly marked Venetian art with his innovative, bold, and surprisingly modern painting.
The documentary, co-produced by Videe, Kublaifilm, Zetagroup, Gebrueder Beetz, ARTE, and ZDF, tells the story of his contemporary relevance and extraordinary imagination.
With an extremely high filming quality and a compelling and dynamic editing, the documentary succeeds in creating a true visual immersion into sixteenth-century Venice: the viewer takes a journey through space and time, exploring the places frequented by Tintoretto, entering the fascinating Venetian calli, and pausing in the churches and museums where his works are preserved.
Costume reconstructions, descriptions of the works, tableaux vivants, interviews with restorers, art experts, and deep connoisseurs of the artist, special effects, and augmented reality (paintings animated with motion graphics and still images with details and close-ups) deliver a product that keeps the audience glued to the screen.
Curated in its scientific part by a team of academics and experts, “Tintoretto, the artist who killed painting” was produced in 4K-2K Theatrical format with Dolby 5.1 and distributed in Italy in over 120 cinemas.
Videe was responsible for the a/v filming with 4K cinema cameras, the production organization, the logistical aspects, the request for permits, the post-production, the special effects, and provided assistance and consultancy for the direction.
